Behind the Acne :
Acne, also called as pimples is a condition that generally occus when hair follicles plug with oil and dead skin cells.
Likely symptoms :
The symptoms vary from pusfilled pimples to uninflamed blackheads and uneven bumps.
The data :
According to surveys and research, almost 10 million cases are reported in India per year.
It mainly occurs in teenage.
The Reason :
Pimple occurs when the hormones are triggered or sometimes by genetics.
It also occurs when your skin’s oil glands are overactive and pores become inflamed. Pimples, if accompanied by some skin bacteria can make the situation even worse.
There is no way to prevent them but there are ways to reduce their severity and keep them in check. Such methods are listed below :
1) Wash your face often :
Washing your face removes the excess oil and dirt to give a clean look. This reduces the occurence of acne.
Don’t choose harsh cleansers, they can make your skin dry. Alcohol free cleansers are best for skin.
You can wash your face twice or thrice depending on your schedule.
The procedure :
– Simply wet your face with water, try to use warm water.
-After that, it’s time to apply a mild cleanser with fingers in a gentle ,circular motion.
-Then comes the final step to rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
2) Be familiar with your skin :
By being familiar, I mean you should be aware about your skin type and it’s behavior. The oily skin is the most acne prone skin.
Your skin’s sebaceous glands cause acne when they produce too much oil sebum.
There’s another skin type called combination skin which can cause pimples. Both dry and oily areas are present in combination skin.
If you know your skin type, you can choose the right skin products which would help you.
3) Hydrate your skin :
Moisturizers do keep the skin hydrated, soft and plum but some moisturizers contain synthetic fragrance or other ingredients that might affect skin and cause pimples.
Using Noncomedogenic moisturizers after washing face can help to prevent pimples.
4) Adopting over-the-counter acne treatments :
OTC( over -the-counter) acne treatments are effective to zap the pimples or prevent them initially. The constituents generally have Benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic acid or sulfur.
This treatment is commonly used to control outbreaks. The manufacturer’s usage instructions should be precisely followed to avoid side effects like redness, dryness etc.
5) Restrict the Makeup :
The act of covering acne with makeup is tempting but it may clogs the pores and trigger outbreaks.
So you should go natural as much as possible. Greasy or oily shampoos, body washes and creams are likely to cause acne .
Even if you use makeup, try to use Noncomedogenic and fragrance free products.
6) Hydration is the essence :
You should stay hydrated as much as possible because dehydration gives your skin a dull look and stimulates inflammation.
Drinking atleast 8 glasses of water in a day is highly recommended.
7) Avoid Sun Exposure :
Sun Rays can dry out pimples in shortrun but they do create problem for long run by dehydrating the skin which will product more oil over time and block pores.
Sunscreen is really important to be used daily inorder to prevent skin cancer but most of the sunscreens are oily.
8) Avoid touching your face :
Our hands encounter a lot of bacteria all over the day which may get transferred to your skin when you touch your face.
You should wash your hands regularly and try not to touch your face.
9) Tea tree oil :
One of the famous and known remedies of acne is tea tree oil.
Tea tree oil can be used directly or with moisturizer for applying it to the inflamed area. It can also be mixed with your daily cleanser.
We recommend you to try a patch test maybe behind ear orclose to your forearm. If irritation occurs, you should dilute your oil.
10) Never be the pimple popper :
You might feel like squeezing that whitehead on the top of your nose or that pimple nearby your cheeks, don’t! Popping can cause bleeding, irritation or even scary infections. It can worsen your pimple problem.
11) Anti- Acne Serums :
You can try using anti acne serums which mainly contain the tea tree oil which is really good for skin and hinders the occurence of acne.
12) Antibiotics :
Antibiotics are the medicines that reduce inflammation and bacteria on skin. They are generally prescribed and taken by mouth.
The medicine is usually the last option for people suffering from severe acne who doesn’t respond to other treatments.
